Carpet school

Saqqara, Egypt: November 26, 2008

On our way to Djoser‘s Pyramid we stopped by a Carpet School.

This is where they enroll children who want to go to school.. Not only do they learn a skill  to create carpets they  get a regular education for writing and math as well. Here goes my skepticism again. I’m thinking this guy is  lying to me. Are you telling me this so I won’t feel bad after I purchase some hand made Egyptian carpet made by an eight year old?…

I did go home with a couple of rugs just cause they were too awesome to pass up. I handed a kid showing me his skills equivalent to two dollars or something. He gave me a hug. And I took a photo with him.
